Family & Children’s Service (F&CS) is a non-profit in Nashville, Tennessee that helps to connect people in crisis and transition to resources and often "fills in the gaps" in social services. F&CS specializes in connecting clients to affordable healthcare and health insurance options. Their "no wrong door" policy makes them an good option for families of mixed statuses where certain family members may qualify for insurance while others may not. The Connecting Kids to Coverage program provides enrollment assistance for children and expectant mothers in TennCare and CoverKids. The Get Covered Tennessee program assists individuals with exploring available insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act in their area and provides enrollment assistance. In instances where an individual may not be eligible for insurance, they will be connected to the Health Assist program which provides referrals to low and no-cost, community-based healthcare resources.
F&CS has made its programs highly accessible and offers multiple options to connect with them across Tennessee. Near larger cities, F&CS offers in-person enrollment assistance appointments, and virtual appointments are available for any location in the state. To meet the needs of all clients, these appointments are available in multiple languages through their Language Service program, and clients will continue to meet with the same staff member throughout the enrollment process. Appointments can be made using either the main line at 866.475.7879 or on their website, https://getcoveredtenn.org/, under the "Refer a Client" tab.
